The Centre for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (CES-D) is a short, 20-item self-report questionnaire asking about experience of depressive symptoms in the past week.


Criterion validity for major depression is good using the cut-off score of >16 (sensitivity 100%, specificity 88%) (Radloff, 1986).
