Brian Malzard Foss (25 October 1921 - 23 December 1997) was a British psychologist.


He was brought up in the Channel Islands.


He read Mathematics and Physics at Cambridge University and subsequently after World War II read Psychology at Oxford University


Between 1948 and 1951 he lectured in psychology at Oxford before moving to lecture at Birkbeck College, University of London between 1951 to 1964.

In 1965 he was appointed as Professor of Educational Psychology, at the [[Institute of Education], London.


He had wide interests , publishing on aesthetics, animal behavior, imitation, perceptual illusions and thinking


In 1973 he was elected President of the British Psychological Society
