يمر الإنسان في نموه بعدة مراحل، أهمها مرحلة الطفولة نظراً لأهميتها الخاصة في حياة الفرد. ففي مرحلة الطفولة توضع البذور الأولي لشخصية الطفل ويتكون الإطار العام لشخصيته، ولهذا يكون لها أكبر الأثر في تشكيل شخصيته في المراحل اللاحقة.

فإذا كانت سنوات الطفولة سوية كان الشخص في مراهقته ورشده ناضجاً ومنتجاً. وبالعكس تسهم مشكلات الطفولة في نشأة الاضطرابات النفسية والعقلية والانحرافات السلوكية في المراهقة والرشد.

وهكذا فإن الطفولة تحتاج إلي من يفهمها ولا ينبغي النظر إل الطفل وكأنه رجل مصغر، فمن حق الطفل أن يعيش طفولته ويتمتع بها، سواء كان هذا الطفل سوياً طبيعياً في نموه، أو مضطرباً يعاني من أحد الاضطرابات والمشكلات النفسية والعقلية.

Let me start my story at the age of 37. Life was going great, I had a beautiful wife and also two beautiful and great daughters. It felt as if I was on cloud nine.
