Autonomic functions are processes controlled by the autonomic nervous system. The ANS affects:
- Diameter of the pupils - the pupillary reflex
- Heart rate,
- Micturation (urination),
- Salivation, and
- Sexual arousal.
Whereas most of its actions are involuntary, some, such as breathing, work in tandem with the conscious mind.
