Cognitive Psychology: Attention · Learning · Memory · Motivation · Perception · Thinking

The human attention span is limited - hrair. Attention management is using automation and user interface techniques to provide greater context and control over how and when the information is displayed.

The technique used for displaying infomration can be adjusted based upon the context of the situation as well as the context of the information user. For example: the type of information desired while standing in line at the grocery store is quite different than the information desired while sitting at your desk at work. The display mechanism would likely be different as well.

Attention management attempts to maximize the value and response to the information provided.

There are a number of attention management applications and projects in development that attempt to solve this problem.
