Assessment centers or assessment centres provide centraliised specialist resources for the standardized and systematic evaluation in a number of applied fields in psychology. The function of these centres may include assessment for: job selection, promotion and career development and planning in organizational psychology; for specialist neuropsychological assessment and other assessment in clinical psychology such as parenting assessment; and for behavior and intellectual assessment in educational psychology assessment.
Such centralization can be controversial as it can mean that expertise in the supported institutions can weaken as the work is deferred elsewhere
