In animal communication, Animal vocalizations involve the production of sounds by animals. These play an important role in Sex recognition and species recognition and as a marker of territorality amongst other things.

In animals the ventromedial nucleus (VMHdm) has a role in the male animal vocalizations and scent marking behaviors.[1][2][3]
