Amorphosynthesis is a medical condition where the patient is unaware of somatic sensations from one side of the body; the left side is most commonly affected. This condition is usually a sign of lesion in the right parietal lobe. The patient also shows loss of proprioception and spatial relationships. Additionally, when the somatosensory association area is damaged one loses the ability to recognize a complex object on the opposite side of the body.
Amorphosynthesis can result from the occlusion of the right middle cerebral artery.
