Ablutomania (from Latin ablutere 'to wash off") is the persistent and abnormal bathing, washing, or cleaning of the body.[1]
It is often a component in OCD.
In psychoanalytic theory it was thought to symbolize an attempt to reduce anxiety arising from guilt.
